PLANNING SCRIPT/STAGE DIRECTIONS/PLOT OUTLINE

PLOT

The idea of my plot so far, is that the beginning of the film is a flash forward to what will happen. it then goes back to her in her house getting ready for bed and turning the light off. she then appears in the woods and notices weird things start to happen. she starts receiving messages of nursery rhyme lyrics from a number. she then discovers weird objects that she remembers from her childhood which link to those nursery rhymes. she tries to find her way out of the forest and keeps hearing noises and giggles. she then sees this little girl which is actually her when she was young. the girl disappears and reappears in front of her. the girl holds a gun up to her head and smiles. she shoots while the older version falls. it then cuts off and you see the older version wake up in the forest gasping for air in the daytime. it then cuts off and the credits roll.

EXTINCTION! The new film I watched, was called Extinction. This film is currently on Netflix which is how I accessed it. it is 1hr 35minutes long and is directed by Ben Young. It was also made 2018. Have you ever heard of this film before? I had never heard of this film before until my friend recommended the film to me. POST 6: WHY ARE THERE SHORT FILMS?

Why are there short film? - Most short films are used to educate people, especially children. People who direct these short films, also sometimes get noticed more, once they win awards for their short films. Who makes them? - People who make them are usually people who aspire to be directors and get into the big film industry. How/where are they exhibited? - short films are often presented at film festivals, which is where these directors get noticed a lot of the time. a few are sold to TV or streaming channels. what's the point? - Short films are great way for film makers to start developing their skills and explore with different skills to. short films can be harder to create at times as its difficult to grab the readers attention in such a short amount of time. it's much cheaper, than longer films and it takes less time to create. FORMS AND CONVENTIONS (COURSEWORK)

How are you planning to conform to forms and conventions? (consider technical, symbolic, verbal, genre codes) I was planning to show conventions through my genre of suspense and thriller, by including objects and codes for instance... the forms within my film build up tension, I show this by starting the film off in the middle of a dream, which the audience doesn't realise till the dream is over. Where are you planning to develop on existing forms and conventions? I plan to use inspiration-from the Blair witch project, and include text messages which is included in films, however I will twist this idea as the text messages will be nursery rhyme lyrics coming from an unknown number. I will be using props like dolls, guns, and other small props relating to her childhood, which illustrate the genre code of thriller and suspense.
