POST 1: SHORT FILMS - PROFESSIONALLY MADE

SHORT FILMS:

TIGHT JEANS: ( 9 mins, 2008, light comedy, destiny ekharaga)

- My predicament of this short film was a group of youngsters on a holiday or going through life problems.


-3 black boys sitting on a wall waiting for their friend to come out. They casually talk about how they don't suit skinny jeans. 
OPERATOR: (6 mins, 2015, suspense, Caroline Bartieet)

-My predicament was that there is a main character wo is operating a system. long shots and pauses.


- This short film included close ups and was a very intense atmosphere. This women is a fire rescuer who helps a women and her baby from a house fire. It set in one main setting. 




THE FLY: ( 6mins, 2014, dark comedy, jack Doolan)


- My associations for this film was a fly on a wall. I thought it would be quite expressive using the light and the humour. 


- This man gets annoyed by this fly which wouldn't escape out of the car. He tries various ways to either kill or make the fly leave. it escalates quickly, and his anger rises. the police then come and arrest him. 
- This short film is very expressive and intense
- It's a silent film and contains no dialogue.



THE ARRIVAL: ( 5 mins, UK, drama/monologue, Daniel Matinee)


- My first thought of this film, was trains or any transport. I thought it could be a possible arrival of a train. I also thought it could be one person talking on their own, as an arrival normally links to being reunited with someone else. 

- This short film was actually about an arrival of a baby. she was showing two different sides of her mind. There was expressive flashing lights as the tube went past, which changed the atmosphere to the café into positivity

SOUND In my film, I will be using nursery rhyme lyrics and beside it I will be downloading royalty free sound effects to create more tension and build it up. I found some lullaby's on YouTube which I downloaded and will be overlapping. I used Zapsplat and free sound to find good audio which will fit into my film. This image shows the sound effects that are already built in to iMovie. I have overlapped many sounds to create more suspense and build up tension. There are non-diegetic and Diegetic sounds which all work together with no dialogue. I used some of these sound son iMovie, as they ambient sounds which work well in the background. Here I used my notebook to write down the lullaby lyrics I will being using in the text messages, this will help me, when it comes to typing it all out on my phone and sending it by text message. I also wrote down all the lullaby songs I will be using in my short film.

PLANNING DIRECTORIAL STYLE

DIRECTORIAL STYLE  for my short film, I want to show a directorial style, by using fast quick shots which were overlaid to create a sense of movement and tension. I have took some inspiration from Hitchcock, using his dark, black and white filter effect on certain parts of my film. This creates suspense and shows a particular style to the director which is what I wanted to show. I have also used short quick cuts, like Edgar Wright uses. this builds up tension and puts the audience on edge.
