Fury of victims' families over Genoa bridge collapse as it emerges Italy's governing populist party labelled safety fears a 'children's fairy story' five years ago – but now plans to fine contractor £130million after 38 were killed


Repair work was eventually carried out on the bridge in 2016 but plans to rebuild it were shelved amid fears it would be too disruptive to locals.
The bridge collapsed on Tuesday morning killing at least 38 people and leaving another 12 in critical condition, with 'several' more still missing, according to Italian interior minister Matteo Salvini. 
Italy's governing Five Star Movement dismissed fears that the Morandi bridge in Genoa would collapse as a 'fairy story' while opposing repair work as a 'waste of money', it has emerged.
A now-deleted statement on the party's website from 2013 argues against a project to improve Genoa's highways - including the bridge - saying those who backed the plan showed 'an embarrassing lack of critical sense.'

How to turn this into a 5min short film?

Plot Synopsis: 

A family of 4, travel for a family day out, a storm occurs half way through their journey and the wind starts to get worse. They are laughing and having fun and suddenly the wind catches their car and it crashes as the bridge collapses in front of them and they fall 300ft to the ground.

Following this article if I had to create this into a short film, I would base it around a family of 4 travelling for a family day out. I would create a long run up to the main event. Once they cross the bridge I would build up a lot of tension as the bridge collapses and their car crashes and falls. I would record the aftermath and that would be the end of the film. 

What creative changes would you make to it to make it more entertaining or educational?

To make the film more educational, I would show how family is important. I would also show that no where is safe and to be aware of your surroundings. Every second of your life can be life changing and no one really knows what will happen next.

POST 7: I'VE WATCHED A NEW FILM

EXTINCTION! The new film I watched, was called Extinction. This film is currently on Netflix which is how I accessed it. it is 1hr 35minutes long and is directed by Ben Young. It was also made 2018. Have you ever heard of this film before? I had never heard of this film before until my friend recommended the film to me. I read the description on Netflix and it sounded really action packed so I decided to watch it.  What was the film about? The main story is based around a normal Family of 4, the father, the mother and their two daughters. The main character is the father, who starts having these bad dreams/visions at night but also in the day time. However these visions where not just some bad dreams they were about a massive alien invasion.
